Austin Aries Discusses Signing With WWE

WWE’s website interviewed Austin Aries about joining NXT and he discussed why he chose now:

Frankly, it’s the only thing I haven’t done in my career. I’ve accomplished every goal I’ve set out to. I’ve traveled the world, I’ve competed in just about every promotion there is. The last mountain to climb was the one that resides in the WWE Universe. I’m excited to get that opportunity. The NXT brand is as hot as any brand in wrestling, and I’m excited to be a part of it.

I became a free agent in the middle of last year. I was seeing what all my options were and had a lot of different opportunities on the table. But from the moment I became a free agent, the WWE opportunity was the one I wanted. Obviously, there were strong plays made by some other companies, but in the end, when WWE offered me an opportunity, I could not turn it down.

Aries also discussed wrestling Daniel Bryan in ROH in a match that lasted over an hour:

Funny story about that. Still being relatively new, I was really proud of the accomplishment of being in the ring with someone like Daniel. I walked back through the curtain after the match, very proud of myself and excited to get feedback from my colleagues. I got back to the locker room and not one person was there. They probably decided to go hit the bar around the 45-minute mark. There was nobody left.

Wrestlemania Kane’s Last?

Kane told The Whig that he’s not about to hang up the boots any time soon:

I’m still having a good time and I think I’m still performing at a pretty high level as well, so as long as I can do that, and I’m good, then I’ll hang around.

I’ve been fortunate. As far as what I can control, I just try to take care of myself, stay in good shape and frankly, being a big guy helps as well. Even though I do do some things like fly off the top. I also don’t take as many risks as some of the smaller guys do so I think that’s helped me as well.

I’ve been pretty fortunate in that I haven’t had many injuries. I’ve broken my hand, I threw my back out once and then I’ve had some pretty bad cuts, but that’s been about it. I’ve been able to avoid most of the really, really bad injuries and career-ending injuries.

Kane also discussed his legacy:

I would like to be remembered as the guy who worked hard every night and set an example for the other guys in the locker room, and girls in the locker room. This is what a WWE superstar is supposed to do, this is how they’re supposed to act, this is how they’re supposed to treat the job, this is how they’re supposed to treat the WWE universe. More so than anything, I think that’s how I’d like to be remembered.
