Original Shield Idea? New Network Show, Goldberg Praises Talent
Roman’s Brother Was Original Shield Member?
Matt Anoa’i, the older brother of Roman Reigns and former WWE star Rosey, recently told Pancakes and Powerslams that some of the elements used for The Shield were originally intended for him and Umaga (then Jamal).
“A lot of people don’t know this, but whenever me and my cousin, when Eddie [Fatu] came back, the original thought was, we were going to be The Shield. [Triple H] let us know, ‘Alright. Go out and buy you some black S.W.A.T Team stuff. And we did it. Either or, it didn’t work out. Obviously, Jamaal moved on to do the Umaga thing and I went on to do my thing.”
Backstage Story Show
WWE are launching a new Network show where wrestlers tell backstage stories, which are brought to life through animation:
STORY TIME TO PREMIERE AFTER SURVIVOR SERIES ON WWE NETWORK
Story Time, a new animated short-form original series on WWE Network, will premiere this Sunday immediately following Survivor Series. Story Time paints an animated picture of some of the most entertaining stories in WWE, as recounted by the Superstars and Legends who lived them. As history is retold with imagination and illustration, these tales that took place behind the scenes and beyond the ring are finally revealed and brought to life.
Sunday’s episode will take a trip down memory lane with stories from Paul “Triple H” Levesque, Ron Simmons, Ric Flair, Bubba Ray Dudley, and Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts as they recall life on the road.
Goldberg Praises Roman and Styles
In a recent interview with Complex.com Goldberg discussed the new talent he’s been able to meet:
“I haven’t been around long enough to give it a good opinion. AJ Styles is a heck of a kid. Roman Reigns is a heck of a kid. There’s a lot of people with a lot of talent there, and I really don’t know because I haven’t been there long enough to pass proper judgment. They need intensity, that’s for sure. They need some realism. I think that’s why I was well received.”
He also reiterated that training for his return is tough:
“My body’s reaction. It’s just all overwhelming, physically, mentally, emotionally. It’s a completely different story. Every aspect of it, to try to prepare to be the Goldberg that everybody remembers in a six-week period of time. It’s just been very overwhelming, man.”
