TNA’s Dusty Rhodes Tribute, Dixie Tried To Sign Mysterio?
TNA Pay Tribute To Dusty Rhodes
TNA have uploaded a short tribute video to Dusty Rhodes. The wrestling legend worked for the company between 2003 and 2005 as the on air “Director of Authority” and as the promotion’s head booker. He also had a handful of matches.
Speaking of Dusty, Cody Rhodes scanned his Eulogy to his father and posted it online:
TNA Approach Rey Mysterio
The Wrestling Observer is reporting that TNA recently approached former WWE star Rey Mysterio about joining the company. The offer was said to be very favourable, allowing Mysterio to work wherever he wanted on non-TV days.
Dixie Carter and John Gaburick are also said to have outlined a merchandising plan that would see Rey’s merchandise in retail outlets.
So far there’s no word on whether the former World Heavyweight Champion is responsive to the idea, but if the money is respectable and there aren’t many restrictions, there’s no reason for him to say no. Dave Meltzer however believes he will more likely end up signing with Lucha Underground. In an ideal world he could theoretically work for both, though neither company will want him on a rival TV show and his loyalty probably lies with the luchadores.
TNA have always struggled to gain major momentum in the Hispanic market, and stars like Konnan, Hernandez and Chavo are long gone. Therefore it’s a no brainer that they would want to sign arguably the most recognizable Hispanic wrestler in the world. We’ll just have to wait and see whether he’s interested.
